Community is a powerful and necessary value that when upheld makes a group of people nearly invincible. The sense of belonging and peace of knowing that behind you lays a group of people that will fight for you and with you.
Picture a young man walking to the gym and signing up for membership. He sees many well built men share a good joke as they walk to the shower where they are laughing even louder and frequently high-fiving each other. The buzzing activity draws the young man into a place of urgency believing that he too will belong to this community.
The bible records a hall of fame of men and women of faith. It records in Hebrews 11 some of the greatest of all time- Moses, Abraham, David among many others who moved heaven based on their faith. The next chapter - Hebrews 12 the author says
“ Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witness, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked for us”
It is a beautiful reminder that those who are in our community as believers are those who did great exploits. Meaning even in our time of struggle and the long walks taken in the proverbial valley of the shadow of death comes a thunderous voice of men and women of faith cheering you on.
This is a truth that establishes hope. There are many who with this truth are confident to traverse life knowing they are not alone. Poverty is without a network, it takes away from people the need to believe in others.
We hold strongly that what we can give in terms of physical support of food is only the door opener to their hearts. Sharing the Gospel with the broken is more rewarding than anything else.
The goal is to get many on to the heaven membership so that in their moments of solitude they will hear the “Cloud of Witnesses” cheering them on.
Join the movement, be there for your neighbor restore hope and be the hands and feet that Jesus will use to remedy the desolate world that we live in.
